After almost two years...

In November it will be two years since Trump took us all by surprise. Two years of his lies, his bashing our allies while cuddling up to Putin. Two years of watching racially-motivated crimes rise in America. Two years of hatred directed toward immigrants and their children. Two years of a GOP-led congress sitting by and doing nothing.


And who should we blame for this? The vast number of racists living in this country? A weak Democratic Party? The Russians? More sinister forces?


I think the most important thing is what we do now. Blame and shame aren't getting us very far. Mocking Trump and those who idolize him aren't cutting it. Insults roll off their backs like water off a duck. Why? Their strongest argument is, no matter how foolish or evil Trump is, he is after all the president and will remain so until the next election. Yes, we can hope for impeachment. We can weaken his support in congress by voting for better representatives. But I don't see an end to this until the next election in 2020.
