I go on sometimes about how music is the saving grace of mankind. It's all around us, I know -- on the radio, in elevators, the soundtracks of movies, on streets and in grocery stores. So much so that we take it for granted, moving about in our daily lives. Me, I'm happy to be a small part of it, writing my poems and songs, then closing my eyes and emptying my head to hear these songs performed by others. I'm even happier to know so many true artists. They are the real saints in this world of despair. It's only fitting then that we have a place to retreat, to share with one another, to break bread (and frittata) and sings our songs. Like a monastery. Like a place of worship.

Every August my friends Carla Overduin and Bill Bosler open their home for this purpose. I was very sick this year but I went anyway and am happy I did. Despite everything, my soul is restored. So many loving faces -- Mj Bishop, Carla and Bill, Sylvia and Kim, Molly, Rielly, Monte, Joe and Dai Peters, Bobby and Pam Pennock, Dan, John and Meg, Mike and Pam Byers, BB and Nick... Yes, my soul is restored and I now look forward to next August when we'll all meet again.

Enjoy the video below. And please ignore how dreadful I look. Music and fellowship may heal the soul but time and disease ravage the body. I'm hoping to have some good news soon. Wish me luck.
